🔧 Uncollected Goods Policy

Effective Date: 01/01/2026 
Applies to: All customers of C.J. Sinclair Ltd
1. Purpose
This policy outlines how C.J. Sinclair Ltd manages tools and equipment left with us for repair, servicing, or quotation that remain uncollected after reasonable attempts to contact the customer.

2. Notification of Completion or Quote
When work on a customer’s machine is completed, or a repair quotation is prepared, the customer will be notified using the contact details provided (telephone or email).

3. Collection Period
Customers are asked to collect their repaired or unclaimed machines within 30 days of receiving notification that:
Repairs are complete, or
A quotation has been issued and approval is awaited.
If collection or instruction is not received within this period, storage charges may apply.

4. Storage Charges
After 30 days, C.J. Sinclair Ltd reserves the right to charge a storage fee to cover storage and handling costs.


5. Final Notice and Disposal
If no response or collection has been made within 30 days from the initial notification, a Final Notice will be sent (by email, text or post).
This notice will give the customer a further 30 days to collect the item or make arrangements.
If no response is received within that time, CJ Sinclair ltd may, in accordance with the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977:
Dispose of or sell the item to recover any outstanding repair, storage, or disposal costs, and
Retain or recycle any remaining balance or materials as deemed appropriate.

6. Reasonable Efforts to Contact
C.J. Sinclair Ltd will make all reasonable attempts to contact customers before disposal, including:
At least one emailed, text, or written notification of completion or a repair quotation is prepared, and
A final emailed, text, or written notice prior to disposal.

7. Uncontactable Customers
If the customer’s contact details are found to be invalid or messages are undeliverable, the goods will still be retained for the full 60-day period before disposal.

8. Liability
Once the disposal process has been completed, C.J. Sinclair Ltd will not be liable for any loss or damage relating to the uncollected goods.

9. Agreement to Terms
By leaving an item for inspection, quotation, or repair, the customer agrees to the terms set out in this Uncollected Goods Policy.
